The Commonwealth Nations Research Society (CNRS) is a non-lobbying and non-profit organisation which:
  1. Educates and promotes a closer, wider and stronger Commonwealth.
  2. Fosters closer bonds between current Commonwealth states, especially the UK, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.
  3. Fosters a wider Commonwealth by attracting non-Commonwealth states and nations.
  4. Fosters a stronger Commonwealth by educating about Commonwealth history and culture.
  5. Fosters the culture of "the genteel and fairest society", the community of idealists which compose the Commonweal of the Commonwealth.
  6. Provides independent, and politically neutral evaluation and classification of potentially new Commonwealth states and nations.
  7. Does research and produces reports and recommendations on policy proposals.
  8. Attempts to improve the community, work and potential of the existing Commonwealth of Nations.
According to the Commonwealth Secretariat:
The Commonwealth is a voluntary association of independent, sovereign states ... consulting and cooperating in the common interests of their peoples and in the promotion of international understanding and world peace.

"Be the change you are trying to create." (Mahatma Gandhi)

"If you would retain freedom, see that all governments you set up remain
always your servants and never become your masters. See that no politician,
no matter what his creed, ever sets up a private political army, no matter what
coloured shirt he wants to put on it." (Captain R.G. Cavell, Indian Army,
speech to the Empire Club of Canada, 2 February 1939)

"We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give."
(Winston Churchill)
